Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX: QAN) is one of the most famous companies in Australia, given this airline's role as our national carrier. As a result, Qantas shares are also one of the most popular investments on the ASX, and can be found in many an ASX stock portfolio in 2025.
Qantas shares' status as a desirable investment would only have grown in recent months, too, as the Flying Kangaroo booked some impressive share price gains over 2024. Last year, the Qantas share price smashed the broader S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO). The airline rose from $5.37 a share at the start of the year to its final 2025 price of $8.97. That's an impressive 67% gain.
But that was last year. With a new year underway, it's time to look forward and see what's in store for investors in 2025. So, with that in mind, let's check out the important dates that Qantas shareholders might want to circle on their financial calendars this year.
According to the official Qantas financial calendar for 2025, the first date that investors need to put in their diaries is the half-year earnings report.
This is scheduled for release next month on 27 February. It is when we'll get a look at the airline's books covering the six months to 31 December 2024. Tantalisingly for investors, Qantas has also nominated 16 April as the payday for a potential dividend from the airline. Saying that, this came with the caveat that this potential payout is "subject to a dividend being declared by the board".
Qantas hasn't paid a dividend since pre-COVID 2019. However, it's worth noting that some ASX experts reckon 2025 will be the year shareholder payments resume. We'll have to wait and see on that one.
Following this potential dividend payout, the net date on the calendar is 28 August. This is when Qantas is set to deliver its full-year earnings results, covering the full 2025 financial year ending 30 June 2025.
In all likelihood, this report will set the trajectory for Qantas for the rest of 2025. Just as February's earnings report is likely to be the largest factor in how Qantas shares fare over the first half of the year.
Again, Qantas has also teased a final dividend here, too. A tentative payment date has been set for 15 October. This comes with the same caveat, though.
Qantas shares' final event for 2025 will be the company's annual general meeting. This has been booked for 24 October. Enthusiastic shareholders might want to set that date aside if they wish to front up to this AGM in person.
After such a successful 2024, it will be interesting to see what happens with Qantas shares in 2025. At the current share price, this ASX 200 travel stock is trading on a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 11.67.
